Marsh Street Arches and Garden Project

Project Introduction

The project has the aim of developing an area of derelict land and the 4 adjacent railway arches in such a way that will be of benefit to the local community. The land and buildings proposed for development have been derelict for almost 30 years and until a recent clean up, had been used as an area for fly tipping, arson, under age drinking and drug abuse.

It is hoped that the full involvement of local people in the process will not only provide the best opportunity for long term sustainability of the project but will also help with the wider social and economic regeneration of the area, providing people with skills and confidence to start new projects, access training or further education or find employment either within the project or elsewhere.

Project Aims

It is hope that the project will not only improve the general appearance of the area and provide accessible green open space but also help to improve the physical and mental well being of the local community.

Our aims include:

Gardens Project

We hope the garden is designed in such a way to provide a safe, clean and tranquil place which local people use to meet friends and neighbours.

Arches Project

The 4 empty railway arches each provide 185 sq. mts of unused space which we hope to utilise to provide additional resources for the local community.
